August Message from EACC Board President

The EACC community in Greater Cincinnati is comprised of 130 member companies and 850 active members. Our members include manufacturing and service companies, large corporations and small businesses. Many would agree that this diversity is one of our key strengths and a critical piece in further cultivating a sense of community. While we all are dedicated to improving the health and image of Greater Cincinnati, yet our members each face unique challenges. Our small business members rely on others just as much as other members do, but there are differences in the direct benefits and opportunities. Many small businesses can be at a disadvantage from not having the resources internally that other larger businesses have at their disposal, such as human resource expertise, tax incentives, grants, access to new markets in different industries, among others.

For the service-based small business leader, that challenge can often be resolved through networking. For those of you that know Anne Cappel, you are probably familiar with one of her most obvious talents- connecting the right people at the right time. Under Anne’s guidance, many of the EACC’s small business members have benefitted from the face-to-face relationship building opportunities that our events yield.

For the small business manufacturer, the true benefit of membership is more likely to be access to organizational improvement and educational seminars. EACC events encourage small business leaders to step away from daily business operations, to dedicate their energy to evaluating future-forward strategies and learn from others experiences. Events such as the Operating in Europe series, can be indispensable in connecting executives to the appropriate resources and providing best practice case studies from peer member companies. On September 19th, “Buying & Divesting”, the first of a three part series will resume.

The idea of community is not a revolutionary one; you could even call it common sense. Enhancing the resources in our community is our collective objective and the EACC is here to help spearhead that effort. We encourage you to engage in this community, and use the resources available to you through your membership.

Welcome new members: Xtek, Standard Textile, Feintool, Pilot Chemical and Boeding Group.

Sincerely,

John Baines
EACC Board President
