EACC Behind the Scenes - February 2016February 23, 2016
EACC Behind the Scenes offers a snapshot of EACC activities that might not yet be widely visible to our membership base, but nonetheless, contribute to the EACC’s mission and enhance benefits for our members and the region. Below, please find updates from the EACC team.
HANNOVER MESSE 2016
Preparations are well underway for the region's participation in HANNOVER MESSE, the world's leading trade fair for industrial technologies. The European American Chamber of Commerce is partnering with REDI Cincinnati and Jobs Ohio to collaboratively promote and market the region and share success stories of European companies doing business in Greater Cincinnati. I look forward to participating with our partners and will share pictures and stories from Hannover, Germany from April 25th - 29th. This year, the United States is the partner country and President Obama is confirmed to attend.
EACC members, Daniel Wachter, President of German company Storopack and Franz Gruber, Founder and Chairman of FORCAM are confirmed speakers presenting and supporting the region's effort. Festo is one of the highlights of the entire show and will be unveiling its visionary bionics projects and future concepts. Such projects are "inspired by nature" with principles from nature providing new impetus for technology and industrial applications (please click here for video of Festo’s SmartBird).
Import/Export Forum Taking Shape
Through email exchanges and member visits over the past few weeks, the EACC team has identified a new opportunity to increase our support to our members.
Members have expressed several challenges regarding importing/exporting, and the EACC is seeking to address such issues. We are now exploring the feasibility of offering a series of import/export forums throughout this year. Tariffs, product classifications, customs delays, movement of goods with new regulations and costs, for example, have been recurrent topics.
For this series of import/export forums, we are now forming the leadership team who will be driving each session. The first date for this forum series should be set for late March or early April.
Like in other forums, the EACC is well positioned to bring together trusted experts and companies engaged in importing/exporting for a quality exchange of information, strategy, best business practices, challenges and successes.
ChamberMaster Training in Columbus
In 2015, the EACC began using ChamberMaster Member Management Software. This platform serves as an effective tool for EACC staff members as we continually work to streamline and organize our day-to-day operations.
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to travel to Columbus to participate in a day of ChamberMaster training. The training session focused how to use the system in specific areas such as billing, events and communications.
Through this training, I gained a deeper understanding of how to use the platform and all of the benefits it offers, not just to EACC staff, but also to EACC members. In fact, later this year, the EACC will launch a new Member Information Center (MIC), which will provide our member companies with tools, such as an enhanced member directory.
You likely have noticed one new ChamberMaster feature already…our new website! ChamberMaster has allowed the EACC to effectively design a website that is user-friendly and that keeps our members up-to-date on new events, job postings, news releases, etc.
Stay tuned for more ChamberMaster and MIC updates!
