EACC Behind the Scenes offers a snapshot of EACC activities that might not yet be widely visible to our membership base, but nonetheless, contribute to the EACC’s mission and enhance benefits for our members and the region. Below, please find updates from the EACC team.
French Consul General Visits Greater Cincinnati
This month, we had the surprise visit of French Consul General, Vincent
Floreani. The Consul General came to Cincinnati to award the French Legion of Honor to World War II hero Henry
Amrstrong, paying tribute and expressing France's gratitude toward those who risked their lives defending liberty.
On short notice, a packed schedule was planned that included visits to French companies Armor USA
and Valeo Climate Control;
the Daubigny exhibit
at the Taft Museum;
and a dinner with the Alliance Francaise
Visits from foreign dignitaries are important to raising the visibility of our region globally and spur the vibrancy of our international communities, who come together to welcome and meet high ranking foreign representatives.
On May 12, the EACC welcomes His Excellency Martin Dahinden, Ambassador of Switzerland
as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker at the EACC Gala Dinner
. We are also working on the visit of EU Ambassador David O'Sullivan in Q3, so stay tuned for upcoming details.
Import/Export Forum Launch Scheduled for May
The planning phase of the Import/Export Forum
is now well under way, as a team of two great co-leaders has been formed.
Alicia Reitano, Senior Import Compliance Manager at DHL
, and Samantha Wagner, Head of Trade Compliance at Festo
, are both onboard for this exciting series of roundtables.
Through my ongoing visits and email exchanges with our members, tariffs, product classifications, customs delays, the movement of goods with new regulations and costs keep emerging as key topics for discussion.
With these topics in mind, the co-leaders will continue to shape the program over the coming weeks. The first forum is set to take place on Tuesday, May 10 at Festo
, which has graciously offered to host the first event.

Gala Dinner Preparations
The EACC Annual Gala
is roughly six weeks away, and behind the scenes, preparations are in full swing.
On a beautiful day earlier this month, EACC Executive Director Anne Cappel, Doug Ebert of Greater Zurich Area
and I attended a tasting with caterer Jeff Thomas at Drees Pavilion. This year’s Swiss inspired menu will feature a delicious main course of Chicken Schnitzel served on creamy polenta with grilled Ratatouille in a Zucchini band.
In the weeks ahead, I will be working to finalize additional event details including the event program, guest registration and the audio visual setup.
I am also delighted to report that the event has nearly sold out! We are looking forward to welcoming His Excellency Martin Dahinden, Ambassador of Switzerland to the United States
, and showcasing all our region has to offer.
