• EACC Behind the Scenes - May 2016

    EACC Behind the Scenes offers a snapshot of EACC activities that may not be widely visible to our membership base, but nonetheless, contribute to the EACC’s mission and enhance benefits for our members and the region. Below, please find updates from the EACC team.

    Executive Forum Development
    The EACC-Vistage Executive Forum is in full development.  

    The first communication to all C-suite executives of EACC member companies, followed by an article in the EACC weekly Newsbrief, generated a lot of interest.  

    Since then, Jamie Overbey, Vistage Chair, and myself have met with many executives to present this new development for the EACC Executive Forum and discuss how this peer advisory experience can result in a distinct competitive advantage for participating companies.  Each meeting has brought great perspectives on how to address the unique needs of EACC member executives leading global operations, while capitalizing on the powerful capabilities of Vistage. For the next 2 months we will continue to meet executives of EACC member companies with the objective of launching a 12-18 member group in September.

    Import/Export Forum Launch
    Earlier this month, the EACC’s first Import/Export Forum took place at Festo.

    Under the leadership of Alicia Reitano, Senior Import Compliance Manager at DHL, and Samantha Wagner, Head of Trade Compliance at Festo, the group identified the main topics of interest that will be covered throughout the series:

    -    Broker compliance/ SOPs
    -    Denied Party Screening
    -    Quantification of Penalty Exposure
    -    Ace
    -    Incoterms
    -    FTAs/ Duty Drawback
    -    Foreign Trade Zones
    -    ICPA

    Prior to this great first forum, our co-leaders developed a glossary of import/export terms as well as useful resources. This material is extremely valuable for the members who deal with imports/exports.

    The next Import/Export Forum will be on August 18 at DHL with a focus on import/export compliance and broker compliance. It will be another knowledge-sharing exercise among all participants.

    June 2016 Events
    As we look toward June and the summer ahead, I have been busy working on two exciting events! 

    The EACC is delighted to be partnering with Flottweg Separation Technology, Inc. to host the Company Briefing & Networking series set for June 16 from 4-6 PM.  Attendees will enjoy a presentation by Flottweg Separation Technology, Inc. President Daniel Ellis, which will be followed by a tour of the facility and a networking reception.

    This will be the second Company Briefing event of the year, with Storopack hosting back in April. 

    Finnish companies Mapvision, Fluid-Bag and Nordic Industries Development are set to host in September in conjunction with the City Of Blue Ash, and Festo will also host a Company Briefing event this fall.

    In addition to the Company Briefing series, the EACC is delighted to be partnering with Frost Brown Todd to host a roundtable with executives from IDA Ireland, which serves as the Irish Government agency responsible for promoting and securing foreign investment into Ireland.

    The event will serve as a platform to learn about and discuss the opportunities Ireland offers companies looking to enter or expand in the European Market.

    The event will be on June 21 from 4-6 PM at Frost Brown Todd.
