EACC Behind the Scenes offers a snapshot of EACC staff activities that may not yet be widely visible to our membership base, but nonetheless, contribute to the EACC's mission and enhance benefits for our members and the region. Below, please find updates from the EACC team.
A Note from EACC Interim Executive Director Doug Moormann
After a few weeks as Interim Director, it is an appropriate moment to pause and share with you some happenings at your Chamber. First, I am grateful for the opportunity to help lead the Chamber during this transition. As a Board Member, and having been associated with the organization for many years, I am comfortable in sharing with you that the EACC remains an active hive of activity.
Just last week we hosted members at the Import-Export Forum
for an informational discussion about
the bankruptcy of ocean shipper Hanjin, but an equally important discussion about the Yates Memo from the US Department of Justice concerning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In short, if you have sales people working internationally, your company better be aware of the Yates Memo and its implications on the way business is conducted. Thanks to our sponsors The Foreign Trade Zone and Barnes Dennig for supporting this informative session.
The EACC also provided an opportunity for members to attend a special Vistage preview session. Vistage
is an organization of peer-to-peer executive advisory groups led by a chair and focused on helping business leaders grow professionally and grow their companies. The EACC has partnered with Vistage to create the EACC Executive Forum powered by Vistage.
The Vistage preview session featured business-owner turned author Tom McCarty speaking about his experience with Vistage. He spoke passionately about how Vistage advice and experiences helped him build a successful company. He has exited that company and is now launching new business enterprises (see Raising Cane and Cleveland Whiskey) and helping entrepreneurs. The EACC has partnered with Vistage to develop and launch an EACC-focused Vistage group in the coming months. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity.
Lastly, member renewal is in full swing. We anticipate very strong renewals, but continue to look for new members. If you have any suggestions on companies who should be members, but are not, please take a moment to let us know. We are eager to open a conversation with potential members.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
with any questions, comments or thoughts you have to share.
We are very grateful for your commitment to the EACC and look forward to seeing you at the Beaujolais Nouveau
