The EACC hosted an information session on the EACC Global Internship Program in partnership with University of Cincinnati International Services
on Friday, March 3. A number of member companies
were on hand to hear Amy Linkous, Human Resource Manager at HAHN Automation
, explain how HAHN utilized the program to bring a highly trained mechatronics student on board to help deal with a workload surge, benefiting both the student and to the firm. Yuchan Yuan, an electrical engineering student at Chongqing University in China, also described how her internship is facilitating her co-op education, which will grant her a dual degree from Chongqing and UC.
The bulk of the session, however, was facilitated by Ron Cushing, Director, International Services at UC, who walked through the nuts and bolts of the program. Importantly, Ron pointed out that UC is able to tap into its network of over 100 international university partners (including over 40 in Europe) to find the right candidates for those businesses that don't have someone specific in mind. He also noted that these partner institutions can be very helpful in assiting intern candidates as they complete the required paperwork. EACC Executive Director Todd Schwartz reminded attendees that this program is highly unique and can be a great way to help EACC member companies tap into a global talent pool and help put our region on the map.
